Leonardo Zamora Signs with Global Sport Group

Leonardo Zamora, the Under 23 National Team goalkeeper for Chile, and now the starting goalkeeper for the Palestine National Team, signs with Global Sport Group to represent him as he seeks a new home team in preparation for his bid to lead Palestine in its first ever Word Cup competition.

Zamora, who was the Under 23 National Team goalkeeper and is currently the starting goalkeeper for the Palestine National Team, recently completed his contract with Colo Colo in Chile and is seeking a new team as he prepares for the 2006 World Cup qualifying matches.

Zamora's grandfather is from Palestine and Zamora felt that this was a chance to compete for his homeland and make a statement about the importance of sport in bridging national boundaries and cultural disputes. "Soccer is a worldwide ambassador for peace," said Zamora. "We compete for ninety minutes and then embrace our opponents, whoever they are and wherever they're from."
